We live in a
time that is like no other that you can think of. We have indeed developed our
brains to be able to use and see the tools we make and rely on as extensions of
ourselves, but in no other point in history have we gave those same tools the
ability to be independent, to truly think, plan and learn by themselves, to be
aware of their surroundings and even to have a gut felling regarding thinks
that are simply too great to calculate. We now do!
Over the curse
of the next weeks we will be posing some thoughts about this great topic that
is making so many heads turn around with the implications it adds to our future
as a specie and even to what we can define has moral or worth of being called “a
person”: artificial intelligence.
Even though it
is already among us, I think we can compare this phenomenon to the rise of the
modern mobile phone were, in the beginning, we only had those rough bricks with
a huge antenna and they were simply designed for a single task, and now we have
this marvels of engineering and technology that put the world, and the whole
known space, for that matter, on the palms of hands. No one could accurately
predict the future that we have seen develop before us in the same way that no man
is really sure about the future of this things in witch, the level the cell
phone has reached will only be the start of the hole fun and fear.
